ATTLEBORO (CBS/AP) — A former special and auxiliary police officer is facing charges after police in Milford say he stalked at least three women and vandalized their homes and cars.
Authorities say Domingo Spinney, of Milford, used a bogus profile on the dating website Plenty Of Fish to arrange meetings with the women at restaurants last December–but the person the women were expecting never showed up.
A study published last year tests this theory in an online dating simulation where a participant "pays" a fee to search online for potential dates after answering a series of questions describing their perfect mate.
The two teens are believed to be behind at least four known car thefts since early April.
The teens were arrested on Friday after being stopped by North Carolina Department of Transportation License and Theft Bureau agents.
Police in Natick and Woburn are investigating similar complaints, and prosecutors say Spinney could face additional charges.
Many other dating sites charge for their services and we think that a true love should be 100% free.
Instead, they say Spinney hit on them at the bar when they thought they were being stood up.
They say he used a different name and asked for their phone numbers, and was rejected each time. The male victims traveled to the Daniel Brooks neighborhood in High Point, picked up the teens and took them back to their residences. When the victim became distracted at the home, the teens would then steal his car keys and take off in his vehicle. They also have a feature called blocking but it's a false sense of security. Now four years ago I joined and went on and off for weeks, with very little problem!Once you block someone, you will not be able to see them, but they will still see you. The poor souls who trust the info Match provides (I was one of them) are many times based on lies. Now three weeks ago I join again and had nothing but problems, that they can't even check out, as I had spoken to customer service a number of time, like being locked out and having to call the Nextel day to redo my password, but here's the killer for me, every two or three days the new profile I put up would vanish, and my old profile would reappear! Those who paid nothing, or very little, for the search were much less willing to choose the online date over the blind date than those who paid a higher fee.
